Blogger 8-11

So after your blog is created, click on NEW POST.  Under the compose tab you can post content for your blog.  The great thing about blogger is that the toolbar is setup a lot like Microsoft Word, which most people are familiar with.  In Blogger you have the ability to change the font, type size, bold, text color, and more.  There is even the ability to post pictures. (I found the picture uploasder very handy for my final project.)

Another cool feature is the ability to EDIT HTML.  Working with Myspace gave me my first taste of editing HTML.  I'm not a master yet but I recognize certain components in the coding.  Lastly, before you post, there's an option to preview what you have created before the public sees it.

*Check out the option to upload an audio clip to your blog*

Blogger 1-7

Blog, Blog, Blog.  Here's a little about Blogs.

Blogs require no special coding or software.  All you need is a web browser because it's a web based service.

Blog- an easy-to- use web site, where you can quickly post thoughts, interact with people, and more. All for FREE.
*In these hard economic times free works for me*

Peter Merholtz coined the term blog (PETERME.COM)
Much like the word podcast, blog is a merger of web and log ( as in diary or journal for us men)

Blogs can be:
a personal blog, which most of us are doing, where we're the sole POSTer
a group blog, where several people get together, create a blog, and post thoughts or artcles related to a particular interest. (http://www.webstandards.org/)
a business blog, which brings a more professional aspect to blogging and allows businesses a way to promote their product. (www.clip-n-seal.com/news/)

Thank You Molly for your lesson.

PodCast Lesson Overview

PodCast is defined by the New Oxford American Dictionary as a digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar program, made available on the Internet for downloading to a personal audio player.
The word PodCast comes from iPod and Broadcast.  However it is not necessary to own an iPod to listen to PodCasts.

pssst…over here… I am an Apple fein.  Therefore I highly recommend Apple products, especially the iPod due to its ease and user-friendly feel.

And we’re back.  PodCasting is such a great alternative to everyday radio due to its ability to allow users to pick what they want to hear and see.

The word PodCast was included in the New Oxford American Dictionary in 2005 as the word of the year.  In 2004, the word was considered for induction.  However Oxford felt not enough people knew about it or used it.

PodCasts are so popular; a huge misconception is that any downloadable file is a PodCast.  However, “true PodCasts allow users to subscribe to “feeds” to automatically receive new episodes of the show.”

Producing and publishing PodCasts are very easy in this day in age.  Nowadays, PCs and Macs are equipped with not only media players but also recording software for both audio and video productions.  Other equipment you will need include a microphone or a video camera.

If you are looking for PodCasts to subscribe to check out podcastalley.com or iTunes.  When all else fails (and it shouldn't) Google it!

I made my first PodCast attempt using a sermon from my sister’s pastor.  I used GarageBand on my Mac to put it together.  I tried using the mic that is on my laptop but I may try using an actually mic to compare the sound quality.

Charges dropped and open minds picked up?

Charges dropped and open minds picked up? I was very surprised when I read the article, His FaceBook Status Now? 'Charges Dropped' by Damiano Beltrami. Despite the tremendous change in our society, as far as our dependency on technology, social networking sites didn't seem like a place in courtrooms. Video and audio evidence is seen all the time in court cases. However for sites like FaceBook and Myspace to be brought in is a victory for technology and a very scary thought when it is used against us when applying for a job. For Rodney Bradford it was an excellent alibi but for the rest of us will we be so lucky?

Procrastination is foolish

Procrastination is foolish.. you REALLY can handle your work load! Provided you handle your business when you first get it.

Rev. Run wrote this on twitter and it is so true. I find myself always upset with time, cause it seems it never visits with me long enough to get things done. Sadly it's not time, it's me who is too preoccupied with the woes of life or dreaming of the joys it can bring. It's time I made my life an adventure movie and bring those dreams along for the ride.

Weapons of Mass Networking

Disclaimer: I DO NOT HATE FACEBOOK!

Ok so everyday someone is exposed, targeted, or misunderstood due to a status update, pic, or video on FaceBook. Most people shake their head or discuss it with others (usually on FaceBook). However when that someone becomes you how do you fight back? Do you pull others skeletons out of the closet for all of FaceBook to see? Do you delete your account and disapppear into the digitally challenged?

I'm not sure what's the right way to go. However I do recall the Golden Rule and I understand Karma...so FaceBook I shall remain.

What's your thoughts?

Can Facebook Survive?

Facebook, Facebook, everyone loves Facebook! However when everyone loves something it seems the magic begins to fade. I love Facebook for its ability to connect high school and college friends from around the world. I love being able to talk to family in Georgia and Tennessee. I'm even able to stay connected to friends and family in Buffalo without ever picking up a phone. My question is, with everyone from your neighbor to large corporations using Facebook, can FaceBook survive?

Let me know what you think.
